Liverpool completes a £12.5 million agreement to sign Juventus winger Federico Chiesa

Federico Chiesa, an Italy international who attracted interest from both Barcelona and Saudi Arabia this summer, has agreed to a four-year contract at Anfield, becoming Arne Slot's second summer acquisition. Liverpool sealed a £12.5 million deal with Juventus to acquire Chiesa, a winger.

Liverpool has finalized the £12.5 million deal to acquire Federico Chiesa from Juventus.

The winger will cost £10 million up front and a further £2.5 million if Liverpool wins the Premier League and Champions League.

The Italy international, 26, has agreed to a four-year contract at Anfield, with pay that is reportedly identical to what he received at Juventus.

"I'm so happy to be a Liverpool player," Chiesa said to Liverpoolfc.com. I quickly replied "yes" when the coach contacted me and Richard Hughes, the sporting director of Liverpool, asked, "Do you want to join Liverpool?" I knew the club's history and what it means to the supporters.

After the Reds signed Valencia goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili for £25 million plus £4 million in add-ons, the Italy international becomes new head coach Arne Slot's second summer acquisition at Liverpool. The Georgia international, however, will stay with the LaLiga side until next summer.

Liverpool's main rival in luring Chiesa to the country was reportedly Saudi Arabia, although Barcelona was also interested in the player but was having trouble clearing the necessary funds from their payroll to sign him.

However, Chiesa's transfer was supervised by Hughes, the new sporting director of Liverpool, who used his connections and understanding of the Italian transfer market to land the player.

After a two-year loan from Fiorentina, Chiesa signed a permanent contract with Juventus in 2022. Since then, he has made 98 appearances for the Turin-based team, scoring 32 goals in 131 appearances across all competitions, including 21 times in 98 Serie A matches.
